Courses
We also have organized several women health related events and involved with community services.
In year 2011, we organised a Well Women's Day, which has received 155 participants. This event was meant to educate women with some important healthcare issue and provide them a free health screening. This includes cervical smear, pelvic ultrasound, bone scan, random blood glucose and blood pressure measurement. It received favourable feedback and has been the basis for the faculty's Woman wellness day in 2013 which also turns to be a successful event.


We have successfuly organized courses and events jointly with the Hospital Selayang such as the study day the Management of Sexual Assault Victim and Contraceptive Updates. The Management of Sexual Assault Victim Was held in Hospital Selayang on 24th September 2012. The objectives were to increase the knowledge and skills in managing sexual assault victim and to create awareness on variety of ways that we could help them. The event consisted of talks from various experts in the field regarding the topic. It had benefited 200 participants consisting of the medical, nursing medics staffs in Klang valley. Further, We organized the Contraceptive Updates study day in Oct 2013. It was a very successful study day and attended by !50 participants.We received a lot of positive feedback.


In addition to this, our department joined forces with the other departments and hold a successful community health screening day for the faculty in March 2013- Women Wellness Day. In 2013 too, the department has organized a workshop on "Conception: An Update" which was held at Selayang Hospital. The objectives of the workshop were to increase knowledge & skills in family planning( contraception) methodsand usage, to update the medical and paramedical personnel on the current types offamily planning methodsy, to create awareness among the medical, paramedical personnel of the effective ways in helping patients to achieve successful family planningand avoid unwanted pregnancies.


The most recent activity of our department is a course on Reducing Maternal Mortality which was held on 25th to 28th of May 2015 at Hotel Holliday Subang. The course is aimed in discussing the key issues in maternal mortality, approach and best practices in enhancing efforts to reduce maternal mortality and also to explore issues of women's reproductive health. The course is held together with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
